01:34 < courtc> Eanmig: What's up?
01:34 < Eanmig> not much
01:35 < Eanmig> just trying to figure out how to get fbset to generate me a fb.modes on my ipod
01:35 < Eanmig> trying to port mplayer
01:35 < courtc> *cough*

01:35 < Eanmig> ?
01:36 -!- klos [i=hans@p54A814CC.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #ipodlinux
01:36 < courtc> Why are you trying to port mplayer?
01:36 < Eanmig> why not?
01:36 < Eanmig> i'd like to get movies playing
01:36 < courtc> Because it's completely unnecessary...
01:37 < courtc> Port linuxstb's mpeg player for rockbox instead.
01:37 < Eanmig> does it do divx?
01:38 < courtc> No, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get divx decoding fast enough on the ipod.
01:38 < Eanmig> mv_player is basically divx
01:38 < Eanmig> minus the mp3 audio
01:40 < courtc> heh.
01:41 < Eanmig> no?
01:41 < Eanmig> brb
01:42 < courtc> mplayer won't be able to decode divx fast enough. You would have to build a specialized decoder for it utilizing both cores.
01:45 < Soap> divx has nothing to do with mp3 audio
01:48 < Eanmig> i know that.. but its generally muxed with it
01:48 < Soap> but I agree with courtc. If you want divx working on ipod linux, I think the best bet would be to port linuxstb's player, and get mpeg2 video playing back @ full speed, and learn from that before trying to take 10 steps.
01:49 < Eanmig> ok where do i get the code for his player?
01:50 < Soap> To expect mpeg4 playback when so much is left to be learned on optimizing LCD usage, much less the meaty issues is silly.
01:50 < Soap> from the rockbox site.
01:51 < Eanmig> ok.. downloading
01:51 < Eanmig> is there any reason threads arent supported?
01:51 < Eanmig> i noticed that too
01:52 < courtc> pthreads doesn't quite work properly, dunno why.
01:52 < Eanmig> is it hardware related?
01:52 < courtc> Doubt it. It may be a limitation with uClinux, josh_ can probably explain it in more detail.

17:14 < iLauncher> does anyone know a function in hotdog that will allow me to clear a section of the screen? for eg., clearing a section of the screen written on using hd_font_draw() ??

17:17 < josh_> upper-left and lower-right, yeah
17:17 < josh_> and (x2,y2) isn't actually drawn
17:17 < iLauncher> but what is the col param?
17:17 < josh_> color
17:17 < josh_> HD_CLEAR
17:18 < courtc> column.
17:18 < courtc> collage
17:19 < iLauncher> what is the default value for col in hd_fillrect() ?
17:20 -!- adio [i=adio@204-83-179-95.nbfr.hsdb.sasknet.sk.ca] has quit [Remote closed the connection]
17:20 < courtc> This isn't c++
17:21 < iLauncher> i have no idea how hd_fillrect works. ive see the params in hotdog.h and also seen it being used in main_prim.c but dont understand if i even have to use hd_rect() 1st. all i want is to clear a section of a srf which is written on using hd_font_draw
17:22 < iLauncher> as josh_ says, is hd_fillrect() the best option and will it work without using hd_rect(). if yes, what should i put the value for col guys? since i dont know what column means here
17:24 < josh_> I just told you, col means color. use HD_CLEAR.
17:24 < iLauncher> oh shit....hd_clear was added in revision 1343 and im using 1331. since thats the latest revision thats stable with ilaunch
17:24 < josh_> HD_Rect() draws a rectangle outline; HD_FillRect() draws a filled rectangle.
17:26 < iLauncher> i dont know why, but from revision 1343 and onwards, the ilaunch inputs dont work properly. it crashes ilaunch and restarts the ipod. anywayz, it would be great if i could use hd_fillrect() to accomplish what hd_clear can do. if col means color, what is the value for the pitch black background color?
17:27 < josh_> pitch black is HD_RGB(0,0,0) or HD_RGBA(0,0,0,255) or 0xFF000000
17:27 < iLauncher> kewl, let me see....
17:27 < josh_> HD_CLEAR means "clear to transparent"
17:37 < iLauncher> i tried HD_FillRect(srf, 0, 45, 320, 240, 0xFF000000); and it makes that section completely white with 3 black diagonal lines running through that section and the remaining part is blurred. also the ipod hangs. i have to manually restart it
17:38 < iLauncher> HD_RGBA(0,0,0,255) instead of 0xFF000000 does the same thing
17:39 < iLauncher> the srf is assigned to the canvas of an obj. on this srf im writing something using hd_font_draw. i need to clear this section written with hd_font_draw
17:39 < iLauncher> what am i doing wrong here josh_, courtc?
17:39 < josh_> something you're not mentioning
17:42 < iLauncher> josh_: you want me to pastebin that block wherein i use hd_fillrect and hd_font_draw
17:42 < iLauncher> ?
17:42 < josh_> no, I don't want to spend ten minutes debugging YOUR code.
17:42 < iLauncher> :( so the hd_fillrect im using is correct?
17:43 < josh_> seems it
17:43 < iLauncher> there isnt any hd_rect and oh, the obj to which the srf is assigned...it blits an image
17:43 * courtc say memory corruption.
17:43 < iLauncher> so the font is written on top of that image, in the blank area of that image
17:43 < josh_> yeah, try valgrinding that thing.
17:44 < iLauncher> courtc, did find the reason why my code used to have a mem leak earlier. that was because i was reloading the image in a loop and then running out of mem eventually. now ive fixed that, but then it leaves me at a disadvantage of clearing that section

23:55 < BHSPitMonkey> well, I just plain stopped being active in here a month or two ago
23:55 < ipodlinuxuser> hey guys! I seem to have ran into a problem with the installer 2 (http://ipodlinux.org/Installer_2) , the windows version. I have a nano(2GB). This is what happens: It works great untill I it starts downloading packages. When it reaches the "/usr/share/fonts/fonts.lst" file it gives out this error: "error extracting" with only the exit button under it. How could I fix this?
23:55 < BHSPitMonkey> clever nick
23:56 < BHSPitMonkey> ask josh_ (consider that a ping)
23:56 < ipodlinuxuser> ... m`kay
23:57 < ipodlinuxuser> i`ll just be waiting for his responce then...
23:58 < josh_> ipodlinuxuser: <josh_> no idea. sorry.
