(also saw the new sony player). 14:27 < jedix_work> hey leachbj 14:27 < leachbj> I was looking at the arm emulation stuff you were working with. looks like a great idea.... inspired me bit to think about doing the same for the ipod 14:27 < oxygen77> k 14:27 < jedix_work> did you get my email? 14:28 < oxygen77> was it the newer devices? av400? 14:28 < leachbj> jedix_work: about getting a serial adapter going? yup. 14:28 < leachbj> they had the av400 too I think. 14:28 < oxygen77> k 14:28 < jedix_work> cool. I'm hoping to have it going today, if all goes well. 14:28 < oxygen77> the av500 should linux and looks like it is using the QT system 14:29 < leachbj> jedix_work: cool... probably need to get a test app together then! 14:29 < jedix_work> hehe 14:29 < leachbj> oxygen77: the only problem was none of them had charged batteries... 14:30 < oxygen77> k:) 14:33 < jedix_work> one of your devices? do you make them or have one? 14:34 < oxygen77> have one 14:34 < jedix_work> cool. 14:34 < oxygen77> and I'm doing a linux port on them 15:48 -!- johnny007 [~johnny@chic.sharpbang.de] has joined #ipodlinux 15:48 < johnny007> hellas 17:41 < macPod> leach you here?> 17:57 < jedix_work> he was earlier 17:57 < macPod> he's been idle for 30 min 18:02 < macPod> It's unacceptable :P 18:22 < jedix_work> hehe 18:22 < jedix_work> what's up? maybe I can help? 18:24 < macPod> nah 18:24 < macPod> this is a continued issu 18:26 < jedix_work> cool 18:26 < jedix_work> well, not cool.. but ok. 18:27 < macPod> heh 18:33 < leachbj> hey macPod 18:36 < macPod> hey 18:37 < macPod> I was wondering as to if you got around to checking the linux write issue with hfs+ formattted ipods 18:37 < leachbj> I looked at my kernel sources and they definitely have the patch 18:37 < macPod> hmm 18:38 < macPod> well I still am definitly gettign the non-clean mount message 18:38 < macPod> so it stays in read only :/ 18:38 < macPod> Let me go ahead and check this again 18:38 < leachbj> hmm, strange... and if you switch back to the earlier kernel its ok again? 18:39 < macPod> http://ipodlinux.sourceforge.net/download/beta/uclinux-2.4.24-ipod1-2.tar.gz 18:39 < macPod> that one gives me the unclean mount 18:39 < macPod> http://ipodlinux.sourceforge.net/download/beta/uclinux-2.4.24-ipod1.tar.gz 18:39 < macPod> that one lets me mount rw, but podzilla does work under it 18:39 < macPod> so just for the records 18:40 < macPod> I am going to use this kernel:http://ipodlinux.sourceforge.net/download/beta/uclinux-2.4.24-ipod1-2.tar.gz 18:40 < macPod> and this podzilla:http://ipodlinux.sourceforge.net/download/beta/podzilla 18:40 < macPod> brb 18:40 * leachbj crosses fingers 18:47 < macPod> alright, I missed if it said anything about the mount issue 18:48 < macPod> but I cannot use the Browse function of podzilla 18:48 < macPod> it shows loading for a while and then "Error: can't open file." 18:48 < leachbj> hmmm... 18:48 < macPod> Hmm, playback seems to have worked however 18:48 < macPod> so it must be rw this time 18:49 < leachbj> record/playback? cool... I was a little confused about that one. 18:49 < macPod> before it said something about not being able to open the file 18:49 < macPod> but now it does not 18:51 < macPod> So ti seems that it's just a prob with the parser 18:51 < leachbj> yeah its definitely 100% robust... its also a little hackish about how it fines the itunesdb... 18:51 < macPod> well here is another prob 18:52 < macPod> I just changes some settings 18:52 < macPod> saved them 18:52 < macPod> and then went to revert and it is now frozen 18:52 < macPod> I can still hearl clicks, but it is set on that screen 18:53 < macPod> and wait 18:53 < macPod> yea, it does say leaving read only 18:53 < macPod> upon another boot 18:54 < macPod> when trying to record I get the could not open test.raw fiel 18:54 < macPod> *file 18:54 < macPod> hmm 18:54 < leachbj> v.strange. 18:55 < macPod> also, however that error is handled for recording, it is not done well 18:55 < macPod> the screen is not redrawn where the error message box was 18:55 < macPod> and everythign slowed way down 18:55 < leachbj> strange. 18:56 < macPod> But ti seems the main problem is that upon a reboot, it mounts as read only 18:56 < macPod> I think the other stuff I am experience is caused by this fact 18:57 < leachbj> yeah that seems pretty likely... but I don't understand why. 18:58 < macPod> gremlins? 18:58 < macPod> ;P 18:58 < macPod> would it help to see my rc fiel?> 18:58 < macPod> *rc file 18:59 < macPod> hostname ipod 18:59 < macPod> mount -t proc proc /proc 18:59 < macPod> ln -s /dev/pty/m0 /dev/ptyp0 18:59 < macPod> ln -s /dev/pty/m1 /dev/ptyp1 18:59 < macPod> ln -s /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc /dev/hda 18:59 < macPod> ln -s /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part3 /dev/hda3 18:59 < macPod> ln -s /dev/tts/1 /dev/ttyS1 18:59 < macPod> mknod /dev/ttyp0 c 3 0 18:59 < macPod> mknod /dev/ttyp1 c 3 0 18:59 < macPod> modprobe tsb43aa82 18:59 < macPod> modprobe eth1394 18:59 < macPod> ifconfig eth0 192.168.222.2 mtu 170 18:59 < macPod> mount -o remount,rw /dev/hda3 / 18:59 < macPod> hdparm -S 3 /dev/hda 19:00 < leachbj> looks fine. 19:00 < macPod> ah 19:00 < macPod> here is something interesting 19:00 < macPod> I attached it to my comp 19:00 < macPod> then ejected 19:01 < macPod> and then mounteed again and I am fairly sure I did nto see the mount message pop up 19:01 < macPod> in fact yes, now it is mounted rw 19:01 < macPod> I still cant browse through songs 19:01 < macPod> I can record now 19:02 < macPod> the save, load, and reset options in the settings meu are still acting funnu 19:02 < macPod> *funny 19:03 < leachbj> the browsing shouldn't be related to the rw problem 19:03 < macPod> kk 19:03 < macPod> neither is the saving, loading, resetting apparently too 19:04 < macPod> alright, I just did a hard reset and it is back to the error message of an unclean mount 19:05 < macPod> so it seems that whenever the disk is shut down without being mounted, this prob occurs 19:05 < leachbj> but isn't that what the patch is supposed to fix...? 19:05 < macPod> *unmounted that is 19:05 < macPod> Didn't you make that patch? 19:06 < leachbj> not really, it came from the linux-kernel mailing list. 19:06 < macPod> ah 19:06 < macPod> hmm 19:06 < macPod> well obviously it wasn't from you. Your code would have worked ;P 19:06 < leachbj> haha... actually the patch is pretty simple, it just turned off that one check. 19:07 < macPod> yea, what I figured 19:07 < macPod> I need to go in a little bit so lets summarize 19:08 < macPod> the HFS+ partition is not mounted rw after the disk is not cleanly shut down. 19:08 < macPod> meaning it will work once after you unmount if from a mac 19:08 < macPod> but if you reboot linux from linux, or do a reset from the apple firmware, it will mount read only 19:08 < macPod> Regarding podzilla issues: 19:09 < macPod> 1. An error in the playback menu causes podzilla to not redraw properly which seems to slow down podzilla untill you have to reset it. 19:09 < macPod> 2. browse does not work 19:09 < macPod> 3. Loading, saving, and resetting settings has bugs. 19:10 < macPod> and that's about it 19:10 < macPod> minesweep is good ;P 19:12 < leachbj> yeah 1 seems to be a bit buggy... 2 is strange - works for some not others. 3. not sure. 19:16 < macPod> I need to get going to a class but I will try to look at it tonight or tommorow 19:16 < macPod> college keeps you busy :/ 19:20 < leachbj> ;) cool, let me know if you find anything. I'm just trying to finish off this line-in recording stuff so I'll try and sort out the playback bug as well 19:33 < leachbj> night all 19:33 -!- leachbj [~leachbj@pD9EABC19.dip.t-dialin.net] has quit ["Client exiting"] 19:34 -!- oxygen77 [~Chris@pauguste-7-82-66-87-78.fbx.proxad.net] has left #ipodlinux ["Cho"] 19:50 -!- KuRcZ [~jeff_kurc@d57-31-222.home.cgocable.net] has joined #ipodlinux 19:53 -!- creining [~tinsley@cs6711255-148.satx.rr.com] has joined #ipodlinux 19:54 -!- creining [~tinsley@cs6711255-148.satx.rr.com] has left #ipodlinux [] 20:12 -!- jedix_work [~jedix@CPE0050bf9eb1bb-CM014090213885.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com] has quit ["Lost terminal"] 21:35 -!- Random [~random@Peterborough-ppp111014.sympatico.ca] has joined #ipodlinux 23:38 -!- pbrook [~paul@81-178-232-108.dsl.pipex.com] has quit ["using sirc version 2.211+KSIRC/1.3.11"] --- Log closed Tue Oct 05 00:00:01 2004
