02:20 < macPod> no, when you install the 2.2 version firmware, or any firmware version for that matter, the ipodlinux kernel and bootloader are overwritten

17:32 < ZgSTar> i'm going to install ipodlinux but wanted to backup the IPOD to restore songs after. How can i do that? is it enough to copy all the folders to a temp dir on my drive and then copy them back after the installation?
